Setting Sail: Using Your Current Position to Navigate Toward Dreams

Do you set goals? Do you think about where you are headed? Are you regularly checking where you are?

One day, my husband and I returned a rental car. I was meant to pick him up after, but in the whirlwind of city streets, I lost him. You know how it happens -when you are supposed to follow behind someone in a car and they don’t wait for you?

Although we shared the same destination, his phone had the location services turned on, mine had location services turned off. He eventually called, a bit baffled, asking, “How can you get lost if you know where you’re going?” And I told him, “I know where I am going- I just don’t know where I am!”

Understanding where you are now is the first step to figuring out where you want to go.

It helps to think about your dreams and goals as if they are a clear destination on a map. This helps ensure you’re heading in the right direction to achieve your goals and dreams.

Really getting where you are starting from is essential. It influences your whole route, helping you tackle your journey with precision and purpose. No map or instructions alone can replace the clarity of knowing where you stand right now.

Maps and plans are just guides. The real progress happens when you regularly update and evaluate your current position.

In terms of your dreams and goals-start with a quick check of what your current position is. Craft a meaningful and dream-filled life.

By keeping clear on where you are, you empower yourself to take steps toward turning your dreams into reality. Keep the big picture in view as you adjust and move forward, and watch how your dreams can truly unfold.

"Goals are the milestones, dreams are the destination—align both, and the journey unfolds."
